Title: WebQuest challenges for young people to develop their knowledge about climate change

Acronym: PLANet B

Reference number: 2020-1-FR02-KA205-017107

Partner countries:  Netherlands, France, Ireland, Portugal, Cyprus

Duration:   2 years (2020-2022)

The current changes in the planet’s climate are transforming the world. The last two decades included 18 of the warmest years on record, and extreme weather events, such as forest fires, heatwaves and floods, are becoming more frequent both in Europe and elsewhere. Scientist warn that without urgent action, this rise in the global temperature will have a devastating impact on nature, bringing about irreversible changes to many ecosystems and a consequent loss of biodiversity.
Consortium partners of PLANet B believe that using a challenge based learning approach is both appropriate and essential if today’s youth are to think critically about the climate change issues. Young people themselves must be encouraged and directed towards finding solutions.

Main aim:

  • To support today's digital natives to think critically about the climate change issue, by using a challenge based learning approach, so they can play a considerable role in spreading the correct climate action message

Specific objectives:

  • to build the capacity of front-line youth workers to use bespoke challenge-based learning approaches - Digital Breakouts - in their everyday activities;
  • to build the capacity of front-line youth workers to develop their own Digital Breakout challenge based learning resources;
  • to provide a comprehensive range of climate-change focused Digital Breakouts to inspire young people to find meaningful solutions.

Target groups:

  • front-line youth professionals;
  • youth workers;
  • young environmentalist;
