The Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs Programme is a business exchange program funded by the European Union that offers would-be entrepreneurs and startuppers (New Entrepreneurs) the opportunity to undertake a professional stay with an established entrepreneur (Host Entrepreneur) in another country part of the programme. The stay abroad can last between one and six months.
The exchanges are carried out through the "SMEs Growing in Europe" consortium (SGE 13), led by the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Girona and with the collaboration of the following partners:
- Quarter Mediation (Netherlands)
- Fundatia Danis (Romania)
- Eduforma SRL (Italy)
- Smart Umbrella Management Solutions E.E. (Greece)
- Amadeus Verein fur Transnationale Bildung (Austria)
- Malta Enterprise (Malta)
- Business Confederation of Macedonia (F.Y.R.O.M.)
- Imerir (France)
- Mersin Teknopark (Turkey)
Target group:
The programme is accessible to all European New and Host Entrepreneurs who have their permanent residence in the 27 European Union Member States, Albania, Armenia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia, Iceland, Türkiye, UK, Ukraine, and Kosovo.
Entrepreneurs from the EU outermost regions and the Overseas Countries and Territories (OCTs) are also eligible to participate.
To participate in an exchange in one of the destinations outside of Europe (i.e. USA, Canada, Israel, Taiwan, Singapore and South Korea), New Entrepreneurs must be citizens and residents of an EU Member State and/or the United Kingdom.
Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs is a centralised programme funded by the European Commission, run with the active involvement of more than 100 intermediary organizations.
Founding rules:
The European Union foresees financial assistance for new entrepreneurs, which contributes to travel costs to and from the country of the stay and covers subsistence costs during the visit. This financial assistance is paid by the new entrepreneur's intermediary organisation and its amount is subject to the signed financial agreement between both parties.
The funding is based on payment of monthly lump sums to the entrepreneur in line with the maximum amount for the relevant country of the exchange (here) and the actual period that the new entrepreneur spends abroad collaborating with the host entrepreneur.
The purpose of the financial support for the New Entrepreneur is to contribute to travel expenses, the cost of the stay and subsistence (in particular accommodation) during the exchange. This financial aid varies according to the host country and ranges from 530 to 1,100 euros/month)
